DeLaurence Ring of Protection
Learn about the ring I use for the popular "Ring of Protection" routine. This ring is very affordable and has an interesting history and a built in premise.
I’ve been a long time fan of the routine "Ring of Protection" by Masklyn Ye Mage - a.k.a. Tony Andruzzi. Many versions have been released, but my go-to routine is based on Bruce Bernstein’s "Masklyn’s Ring".
If you are unfamiliar with the routine, the premise is that you wear a ring that has the ability to take away someone’s strength. For example, in Bernstein’s routine, a participant stretches his arm straight out in front of his body. The performer is unable to push down his arm. However, when the participant holds onto the ring, he gets weak. So, the performer can easily push down his arm.
I’ve always liked this routine because it plays very well, and you only need to wear a ring. But, to be honest, I’ve had a hard time finding the right ring to wear. I’ve never been a fan of rings, especially the large signet rings that draw a lot of attention.
But, recently I found the perfect ring for this routine! It is discrete enough to wear on a daily basis and has an interesting history with a built in premise.
So, what ring did I find?
